Welcome to the Wag Society. Membership Has Its Perks.

Thirty-two personalities. Fourteen impeccably coordinated colors. And a very relaxed attitude toward the rules.

Every society has its characters

There are the impeccably mannered ones, the scene-stealers, the quiet observers, and the members who seem to have arrived solely to cause a little trouble. Wag Society has room for all of them.

Audrey Lane’s illustrated porcelain collection brings together 32 dog breeds, a beautifully considered field-tile palette, and a Pattern Studio designed to let the creative possibilities unfold. Its personality is unmistakable. Its design credentials are equally serious. The members, however, are under no obligation to behave.

Founding members: Betsy and Dublin

The story starts with Audrey Lane founders Jennifer Horning and Holli Van Cleave, both devoted dog lovers. Their own dogs helped shape the collection from the beginning, and one of them even became part of the artwork.

When Jen shared her Boston Terrier Betsy’s Instagram account with the artist, a puppy photograph became the inspiration for the Boston Terrier illustration that appears on the tile. Holli’s dachshund, Dublin, also helped make sure his breed had a place in the lineup. This was never an exercise in selecting generic pet imagery. The affection behind the collection is real.

The artwork took some persuading, too. Early interpretations were a little too polished, a little too serious. Jen and Holli kept asking for more of the gestures and quirks that make a dog instantly recognizable. As Jen put it in the interview, she wanted people to look at a pup and think, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s so cute—that’s my baby.’

The guest list

Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Corgis, French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, dachshunds, and plenty of other familiar faces make up the 32-breed roster. In the standard mixed assortment, the illustrations arrive randomly packed, so the installation becomes its own gathering of personalities.

The name came naturally. Put all those breeds together and, as Jen observed, they become a society. It is a playful premise, but one that gives the collection a surprisingly versatile identity. Some rooms will welcome the entire guest list. Others may prefer a favorite breed appearing here and there.

Society has excellent taste

Behind the charming introductions is the collection’s best-kept secret: Society, a coordinating family of 14 porcelain field colors that needs no canine accompaniment whatsoever.

The palette moves through soft whites, gentle greys, warm neutrals, earthy browns, expressive greens, blue, and dramatic dark tones. Together, they can create a classic checkerboard, a tailored plaid, a clean stripe, or a more unconventional composition. Think heritage-inspired floors one moment, contemporary graphic interiors the next.

‘Of course I love the pups, but I think I’m even more excited about the field tile colors and the patterns you can create with them,’ Holli said. It is an important distinction. Society is not simply a background for Wag. It is a sophisticated 8-inch porcelain field-tile collection in its own right.

A warm neutral checkerboard can feel quietly luxurious. A deep blue-and-white pairing makes a sharper statement. A multi-color plaid can introduce a touch of eccentricity without a single illustrated dog in sight. The pups are welcome, but attendance is not mandatory.

Your pattern, your rules

The Wag Society Pattern Studio is where the guest list and the dress code become entirely your decision. Start with a checkerboard, stripe, or plaid; introduce Society colors; choose the mixed assortment or a favorite breed; then experiment with layout and grout color until the composition feels right.

The tool can also produce a selection sheet with quantities and help initiate sample requests. It makes a playful idea useful to the design process, translating creative exploration into a more tangible starting point for a project.

For those with a particular favorite, there’s another perk: a single breed from the existing roster can be ordered on its own, and custom color options for an existing illustration can be explored with Audrey Lane. The standard mixed assortment remains a delightful surprise, with breeds randomly packed; individual-breed orders are made to order and subject to a minimum. The Pattern Studio is where the ideas begin, and the Audrey Lane team can help with the details.

A very good reason to join

There is a particular kind of pleasure in a room that knows exactly what it is doing and still leaves space for a little mischief. A beautifully balanced floor with one unexpected pup. A pet boutique with a wall full of familiar faces. A residential powder room whose checkerboard feels completely timeless until you notice the dachshund.

That balance is the spirit of Wag Society: personal without being precious, playful without being kitschy, and polished enough to stand on design merit alone. It is the sort of society that welcomes strong opinions about color, a soft spot for dogs, and the occasional breach of etiquette.

Membership is open. Pups optional.
